Today, April 27, 2017, was my Future Day, and I decided to spend it at the advertising agency MIU24®. My trial work day began at 9:00 AM with a warm welcome. Immediately after, I was allowed to take a seat at a PC and get my first impressions of the website. The professional and appealing design of the website immediately surprised me, and I delved into some diary entries that promised an interesting day.

Insight into the work of an advertising agency

After this initial orientation, the day officially began with a short team meeting. The daily schedule was discussed here, and I gained an exciting insight into the structure of agency work. Together with my partner Joanna and the intern, we learned many exciting aspects. The presentation of the Facebook page was particularly impressive. The intern explained in detail how he manages the page, plans content, and creates posts. We were also able to learn valuable tricks for successfully marketing products and services. Meanwhile, we listened in live on some phone calls, which gave us a closer look at the dynamics of daily work.

Photo shoot: Creativity and precision

The next section of the day was my personal highlight: a photo shoot for an advertisement for a sparkling wine. What initially sounded simple turned out to be a complex process. We gathered equipment such as lamps, camera, tripod, and a light tent and meticulously prepared the scene. After taking some photos, we transferred the images to the PC and edited one with Photoshop and Lightroom. But when the boss looked at the picture, he noticed that the bottle looked too bright – so we had to start all over again. Despite the extra effort, the trouble was worth it, because the final result was impressive.

Flyer campaign: Street marketing

After a lunch break in the market hall, the next task awaited us: a flyer campaign for a tailor. In teams of two, we distributed the small flyers to cars all over Hanover. After two hours and a long distance, we had distributed many flyers and could return with a good feeling.

My conclusion

The Future Day at MIU24® was overwhelmingly positive. I have great respect for the team's work and was surprised by how well this profession could suit me. I particularly enjoyed the team's cohesion, which always works harmoniously and solution-oriented despite demanding tasks. For me, it was a day full of new experiences and exciting insights that I will not forget anytime soon.
