Celle, 10/17/2023 – At this year's deGUT 2023 in Berlin, the prestigious title was awarded Regionalheld® 2023 awarded. In cooperation with the MiU24® KG the deGUT sought innovative projects that represent regional excellence and sustainability. Among the numerous applications, the Radretter® from Celle with their forward-looking concept among the eight best pitches.
The Radretter®: Role Model for Sustainable Mobility
Celle is known as a cycling city and a pioneer in sustainable mobility. The Radretter® have distinguished themselves with their concept of promoting cycling friendliness and micro-mobility as an essential part of this commitment. The goal is to further expand the symbiosis between macro-mobility (train) and micro-mobility (bicycle) and to make Celle one of the leading cycling cities in Germany.
„In Celle, we see an impressive density of bicycles, which, however, is not yet fully utilized. We want to create a city where cycling is not just an option, but the preferred choice of mobility,“ says Gunnar von Thaden, spokesperson for the Fördervereins Bahnhof Celle e. V.
The Regional Hero® Competition: A strong field of participants
The Regionalheld® 2023 was determined in an exciting competition with eight finalists. The pitches were presented on the October 14, 2023 on the deGUT marketplace. The jury, consisting of Tilo Hönisch (ILB) and the Werberetter® Duo, was impressed by the diversity and quality of the submitted projects.
Although the Radretter® were not among the three prize winners, they impressed with their visionary approach to mobility. The project shows how a sustainable mobility infrastructure can make cities more attractive while also contributing to the carbon footprint.
Radretter®: A lighthouse project with exemplary character
„We are honored to be part of this inspiring competition. Although we did not win the title, we are proud to be called a beacon of sustainable mobility in the region,“ says Hans Lilie, Chairman of Radretter®. "As in seafaring, however, we need many lighthouses to find the right course."
The team of Radretter® has set itself the goal of making Celle one of the leading cycling cities in Germany. Together with other initiatives and involving civil society, they are working to realize the vision of a bicycle-friendly future.
